Metropolitan Hospital has a model and fully equipped Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Clinic, staffed by experienced, highly specialized, and well-trained medical and nursing personnel.
Scientific team
The mission of the medical and nursing team of the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Clinic is to provide reliable, high-quality diagnostic and therapeutic services across the entire spectrum of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, in line with modern approaches, the latest advancements, and the standards of medical and dental science.
Services provided
At the Metropolitan Hospital’s Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Clinic, a wide range of surgical procedures are performed, covering all levels of complexity—minor, intermediate, and major—either in the Outpatient Department under local anesthesia, intravenous sedation/analgesia, or in the Operating Theater under general anesthesia.
Specifically, the range of maxillofacial procedures carried out in the Clinic includes:
Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Services
- Dentoalveolar surgery
- Reconstructive pre-prosthetic surgery, as well as the surgical placement of osseointegrated dental implants in both routine and complex cases (e.g., sinus lift, inferior alveolar nerve transposition)
- Management of oral, maxillofacial, and cervical infections of odontogenic and non-odontogenic origin
- Trauma surgery of the facial skeleton
- Orthognathic surgery, i.e., surgical correction of craniofacial and dentofacial deformities
- Conservative and surgical management of orofacial pain, mainly caused by temporomandibular joint disorders
- Surgical oncology of the oral and maxillofacial region, an integral part of head and neck oncology, with a particular focus on oral cancer treatment
- Conservative and surgical treatment of salivary gland disorders
- Surgical management of snoring and obstructive sleep apnea, in collaboration with other surgical specialties.
Dental implants
In collaboration with prosthodontists, our oral and maxillofacial surgeons first place the implants in the jawbones, along with bone grafts where necessary. The prosthodontist then proceeds with the construction of the prosthetic restoration anchored onto the implants.
Since its establishment, the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Clinic of the Metropolitan Hospital has been providing top-level services in the field of implantology—not only for the support of intraoral prostheses, but also for extraoral prostheses (e.g., artificial nose, ears, etc.), particularly in oncology and trauma patients, who may require such reconstructions after surgery or injury.
Special care for patients with complex medical history
The experienced and highly skilled medical and nursing staff of the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Clinic at the Metropolitan Hospital provide full support for maxillofacial and dental treatment of patients with complex medical conditions (e.g., cardiac patients, diabetics, oncology patients, and immunocompromised individuals).
