Alternative to Invasive Surgery
Stereotactic Body Radiotherapy (Stereotactic Body Radiotherapy – SABR) shares the same characteristics as Intracranial Stereotactic Radiosurgery and serves as an alternative to invasive surgery, particularly for patients who are not eligible for surgical intervention. It is superior to conventional radiotherapy for the treatment of certain tumors, such as early-stage non-small cell lung cancer. The main indications for SABR include: early-stage lung cancer, pancreatic cancer, liver cancer and liver metastases, paraspinal lesions, prostate cancer, as well as cases requiring re-irradiation.
The Metropolitan Hospital Radiotherapy Oncology Center is equipped with the Edge® system by Varian® for both intracranial and extracranial stereotactic radiosurgery. It is the fastest radiosurgery system available, combining maximum precision and safety in a patient-friendly environment. Additionally, it provides real-time monitoring and verification of the treatment without placing any additional burden on the patient.
