The year 2014 marked the 10-year anniversary of the Thyroid & Endocrine Surgery Clinic at Metropolitan Hospital. Over 5,000 thyroid and parathyroid gland procedures have been performed at the Clinic in this decade. In partnership with our Endocrinologists, the Clinic identifies any thyroid or parathyroid condition.
The check-up includes:
- Physical examination of the patient
- Blood tests (hormonal profile of thyroid or parathyroid function)
- Imaging tests
- Cervical ultrasound for imaging of the thyroid, parathyroid and lymph nodes in the area
- Cervical CT, wherever required (extensive thyroid cancer, descending goiter)
- Cervical MRI, wherever required
- Thyroid or parathyroid scintigraphy
- Fine-needle aspiration of thyroid or lymph node nodules
The surgical procedures performed at the Clinic include:
- Thyroid-related surgeries
- Total thyroidectomy for benign or malignant thyroid conditions
- Lymph node dissection (central, modified or radical neck dissection), wherever indicated for thyroid cancer
- Revision surgery for recurrent benign or malignant thyroid conditions
- Parathyroid-related surgeries
