Dr. Anastasia Oikonomou is a specialized Pediatric Surgeon with extensive experience in both general and complex pediatric surgical cases. She studied Medicine at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and completed her training in General Surgery and then Pediatric Surgery at the “Panagiotis & Aglaia Kyriakou” Children’s Hospital in Athens, where she earned her specialty certification. Committed to continuous professional development, she also holds European certifications in Emergency Medicine and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
Dr. Oikonomou has actively participated as a co-investigator in clinical trials in pediatric oncology and holds a PhD from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, with a dissertation entitled “Historical Review of the Therapeutic Approach to Hernias”. After her specialty training, she worked as a Consultant Pediatric Surgeon at the Pediatric Surgery Department of the General Hospital of Larissa, managing a wide range of emergency, general, and complex pediatric surgical cases.
Her scientific work includes publications in international and Greek journals and presentations at national and international conferences, and she is an active member of both the Hellenic Society of Pediatric Surgery and the European Pediatric Surgery Association. Her main areas of expertise are pediatric urology, pediatric oncologic surgery, and neonatal surgery. She provides specialized medical care at her private practice in central Volos and at the Metropolitan Hospital Pediatric Surgery Clinic in Neo Faliro, Athens.
