Iosif Serafeim

Dr. Iosif Serafeim is a Consultant Pulmonologist and a graduate of the Medical School of the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz, West Germany. In the same city, he devoted three years to research on cellular DNA repair mechanisms in healthy and cancerous human tissues at the Institute of Applied Toxicology of the University of Mainz. He completed his specialization in Pulmonology at the General Hospital of Attica “Sismanogleio” and at Stadtkrankenhaus Russelsheim in West Germany.

As a private practitioner he has been professionally active in Northern Evia and in Athens. During 2008 and 2009, he worked in the Department of Internal Medicine at Hygeia Hospital. Since 2016 he has been serving as a Consultant Pulmonologist at the Pulmonology Clinic “PNOE” at Metropolitan Hospital, where he is dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of patients across the full spectrum of Pulmonology, including COPD, bronchial asthma, interstitial lung diseases, lung cancer, sleep disorders, smoking cessation, pulmonary function testing and emergency pulmonology.

• The effect of heavy metals on the activity of the DNA repair enzyme OGG-1.
