Profile
Dr. Pantelis Skarlos is a Radiation Oncologist who graduated with distinction from the University of Bologna in 2005. He completed his PhD with honors in 2012, focusing on the molecular biology of breast cancer. Since 2010, he maintains a private medical office in Athens, and since June 2011, he has a consistent and leading presence in the Radiation Oncology Department of Metropolitan Hospital.
His long-standing contribution led to the establishment and directorship of the 2nd Radiation Oncology Department in October 2022. The foundation of the Department is built upon trust-based relationships with the patients and the continuous advancement of therapeutic care.
His research activity includes participation in randomized trials and the publication of scientific articles. He is the principal investigator in numerous oncological therapeutic protocols—such as those for head & neck, lung, and gynecological cancers—and has played a key role in the development and ongoing refinement of treatment protocols at Metropolitan Hospital. He has organized numerous conferences and scientific workshops in Greece and abroad.
He has lectured in postgraduate programs at medical schools such as the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA), the University Hospital of Heraklion, and the University of Thessaly. He has participated as faculty and instructor in both national and international conferences and training seminars, and is frequently invited as a speaker and session chair at scientific events.
He is a member of various Greek and international scientific societies, including ESTRO, ASTRO, ESMO, EORTC, HESMO (Hellenic Society of Medical Oncology), HSSR (Hellenic Society for Stereotactic Radiotherapy), HBM (Hellenic Breast Society), and HSMO (Hellenic Society of Melanoma).
He specializes in modern radiotherapy for breast cancer—a field in which he conducted his PhD thesis—as well as in cancers of the lung, prostate, head & neck, colon, and gynecological cancers. He has extensive experience in techniques such as 3D, IMRT-IGRT, stereotactic radiotherapy, and brachytherapy.
His medical approach combines scientific precision with a deeply patient-centered philosophy.
