All of the following recommendations should be followed more strictly if there are younger individuals in your immediate environment, especially women of reproductive age.
If you have undergone an examination involving:
Gallium-67
- Avoid contact with pregnant women and young children for 3 days.
- Maintain a minimum distance of 1 meter from others, particularly from young women of reproductive age.
- Avoid long-distance travel (>2 hours) by public transportation.
- During the first 24 hours after administration:
- Drink plenty of fluids (more than 2.5 liters per day).
- Be very careful when using the toilet.
- Male patients should urinate while seated. Flush twice after each use.
- If any urine spills on or around the toilet, wipe it up using absorbent paper, dispose of it in the toilet, and flush twice. Wash your hands thoroughly after each use.
- If clothing is soiled with urine, wash it separately from other laundry.
- Avoid sexual activity for 4 days.
Thallium-201
- Avoid direct contact with pregnant women and young children for 2.5 days (60 hours).
- Maintain a minimum distance of 1 meter from others, especially young women of reproductive age.
- Avoid long-distance travel (over 2 hours) using public transportation.
- Drink plenty of fluids (more than 2.5 liters per day).
- Use extra caution when using the toilet.
- Male patients should urinate while seated. Flush the toilet twice after each use.
- If any urine spills, clean it using absorbent paper, dispose of it in the toilet, and flush twice. Wash your hands thoroughly afterward.
- Avoid sexual activity for 2.5 days (60 hours).
Technetium-99m
(e.g., bone, kidney, thyroid scintigraphy)
- Avoid direct contact with pregnant women and young children for 2 days after administration.
- During the first 24 hours:
- Maintain a safe distance of 1 meter from others, especially from young women of reproductive age.
- Avoid traveling for more than 2 hours on public transportation.
- Drink plenty of fluids (more than 2.5 liters per day).
- Exercise caution when using the toilet. Male patients should urinate while seated. Flush the toilet twice after each use. If urine spills occur, clean with absorbent paper, dispose of the paper in the toilet, and flush twice. Wash your hands thoroughly afterward.

Iodine-123
