In collaboration with the ultra-modern imaging departments (Ultrasound, CT, MRI, Radioisotope Department) and the help of the Hematology/Immunology Lab, which covers the entire range of laboratory tests that are required for the diagnosis of these diseases, the time to diagnosis is significantly reduced, with early diagnosis resulting in early treatment, which ensures the best outcome for the diseases.

Diagnostic or therapeutic paracentesis is performed on joints (aspiration or injection) and when needed, this is done under ultrasound or CT guidance. In addition, we perform minor saliva gland biopsies with minimal surgical intervention.

The excellent collaboration of the Metropolitan Hospital departments and clinics ensures that patients with systemic diseases will be monitored and treated by a multidisciplinary team of doctors as modern medicine calls for, while most treatments, primarily intravenous ones, are conducted at the One-Day Clinic. We also offer counseling services to support other departments and clinics.

Osteoporosis patients are assessed and treated in the Outpatients Clinic.

The Department physicians actively participate in international and national conferences with announcements or as organizers, chairmen, coordinators and/or speakers, and in inter-university seminars as tutors before residents and new attending physicians. As a result, the Department is recognized within the medical community. We participate in research protocols and collaborate with international companies, such as ASAS (Assessment of SpondyloArthritis International Society), as well as Greek companies, such as ERE EPERE (Hellenic Society for Rheumatology and Professional Association of Rheumatologists) and ΕΕΜΜΟ (Hellenic Society for the Study of Bone Metabolism).
