European Society of Hypertension – Center of Excellence
The Hypertension Center at Metropolitan Hospital is the first private hypertension center in Greece to be certified as a Hypertension Excellence Centre by the European Society of Hypertension (June 2021). This certification recognizes the clinic for its innovative activities and exceptional quality and effectiveness in research, diagnosis, management, and treatment of hypertension.

Hypertension is the leading cause of death from cardiovascular events, affecting 25% of the Greek population and more than 50% of adults.
The Director, Prof. Athanasios Manolis, is internationally recognized as a leading expert in hypertension. He has contributed to the European Society of Hypertension and European Society of Cardiology guidelines in 2007, 2009, 2013, and 2018, and continues to participate in the committee drafting future guidelines.
He has been a member of the Executive Board of the European Society of Hypertension since 2003 and organized the World Hypertension Congress in Athens in 2014, hosting 6,500 delegates from 87 countries.
The Associate Director, Manolis Kallistratos, in addition to his extensive experience in cardiology, is specialized in hypertension. He previously led the Hypertension Clinic at Asklipieio Voula, where he managed over 5,000 patients, including complex cases referred from across Greece due to their unique challenges. His expertise has resulted in numerous publications in the field, which have also been featured in prominent international media outlets such as BBC, CBS, and TIMES.
