Koukidou Sofia Xanthippi

Sophia Xanthippi Koukidou is a Pulmonologist and graduate of Medical School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. She completed her specialization in pulmonology at the General Hospital for Chest Diseases "Sotiria". She was trained in performing bronchoscopy at the Central Bronchoscopic Laboratory of the Chest Diseases Hospital of Athens "Sotiria" and is certified in endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS) from the European Respiratory Society. She holds a Master's degree (MSc) from the Medical School of the University of Athens on the topic "Lung Cancer: Modern Clinical-Laboratory Approach and Research". Additionally, she is a PhD candidate at the University of Athens with a doctoral thesis topic "Inflammatory Mediators and Phenotypic Characteristics in Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease with or without Bronchiectasis".

The physician has professional experience as a consultant in pulmonology clinics of the National Health Service, both in outpatient departments and emergency departments. She has a strong background in scientific methodology participating as a sub-investigator in multicenter clinical studies on severe asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and COVID-19. Her research papers have been published in international medical journals covering topics on severe asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, bronchiectasis and lung cancer. She participates in speeches and announcements in educational seminars and scientific congresses, contributing to the development of new knowledge in the field. She is a member of the Hellenic Thoracic Society and the European Respiratory Society.

As a consultant of the Pulmonology Clinic "PNOI" at Metropolitan Hospital, she maintains a high level of professional responsibility and collaboration for the benefit of the patient and the clinical team.
