The special MRI techniques play a significant role in detecting and assessing the extent of gynecologic cancer and a series of other female pelvic conditions. These techniques significantly increase diagnostic accuracy when identifying and characterizing a lesion, assisting gynecologists in performing targeted biopsy and selecting the most suitable treatment.

They also contribute in identifying the extent of the disease (staging) with great accuracy, before the patient undergoing surgery or radiotherapy. In patients with locally advanced disease who must undergo radical radiochemotherapy (external radiotherapy, brachytherapy and chemotherapy), this is the only imaging test that allows detailed evaluation of the response during and immediately after treatment. Upon conclusion of the treatment, it assists in early recurrence detection.

A multiparametric study is the combination of special MRI techniques.

Multiparametric MRI combines special techniques with high-resolution anatomical images, significantly increasing accuracy when detecting cancer.

At our Unit, Multiparametric MRI is performed using a state-of-the-art latest generation Siemens Skyra 3 Tesla scanner with a 60 channel dedicated abdomen coil.
